A Brief History:

Fredericksburg dates to 1846 when German settlers began making Texas Hill Country home! Our Fredericksburg's Pioneer Museum shares the stories of the first German immigrants. Our German roots bring in festivals such Octoberfest which helps us celebrate our heritage. One of our own Chester W. Nimitz launched the town of Fredericksburg by putting us on the national map due to his commanding the United States Pacific Fleet in WWII. Our National Museum of Pacific War is due to his contributions. Our 36th United States President Lyndon B. Johnson was born in Gillespie County and is buried on his ranch just 20 minutes outside of Fredericksburg. Our history is one of the factors that helped us gain the title of one of the top places to visit in the United States.
